Under 11s Match Report Vs Redlands Black

Logan Cobras Vs Redlands Black, Under 11s

Date : 07 Jun 2008

The team got away to a very slow start and for the first half of the game they were out scored by a very well drilled Redlands team. After half time the team played the type of football we are capable of and made Redlands work hard for every possession. The backline played particularly well and all over the field the Cobras played good aggressive football to gradually work our way back into the game and we finished all over the top of Redlands.

Well done to our captain Bailey Nichols who celebrated his 50th game for the Cobras with a typically whole hearted performance. Bailey has really put his head down this season and his improved efforts at training are starting to show on match days. Congratulations to our Award winners, Dylan Sipple who never stopped running and attacked the ball hard all game and Travis Miller who also worked hard during the game. Travis has also shown more commitment to training this season and his skill level has improved greatly.

Many thanks to all of our helpers Drupal CMS, Josh Balm who handled the time keeping, John Balm who looked after First Aid, Anton and Jay who ran water, Chris Elves who was the runner and Neil Jones who was our goal umpire.

Under 11s Match Report Vs Coorparoo White

Logan Cobras Vs Coorparoo White, Under 11s

Date : 24 May 2008

Once again we jumped out of the blocks and for the first part of the game we were well on top of the opposition. We used the ball very well and created plenty of scoring opportunities for our forward line and when Coorparoo had the ball we applied plenty of pressure and forced them to make mistakes with their disposal of the football.

However once again we eased off and let Coorparoo back into the game when we stopped manning up, chasing and tackling. During the third quarter we gradually worked our way back into the game and played some of the football we are capable of and during the last quarter we were once again the dominant team on the field.

Well done team but lets try for a consistent four quarter effort from now on.

Congratulations to our Captain Jesse Longden who played a major part in our comeback during the later part of the game and well done to our award winners Blake Rhodes who worked hard and constantly won the ball and created opportunities for his team mates and to Jason Bennett who marked strongly and always used the ball well with his hand and foot passing.

Thanks to Rhys Carr who handled the goal umpiring and Todd Bone and Jay Longden who looked after the water running duties.

Under 11s Match Report

Logan Cobras Vs Mt Gravatt, Under 11s

Date : 17 May 2008

The team bounced away to a great start and for the first half of the game, played some outstanding team football. Every time we had the ball we used great foot and hand passing to set up numerous goal scoring opportunities. Our chasing and tackling was also first class and we constantly forced Mt Gravatt into making errors with the ball. After half time we let Mt Gravatt back into the game when we relaxed and gave the opposition too much space and allowed them to kick easy goals. However in the last few minutes we once again produced some good football to kick the last few goals of the game.

Congratulations to our captain Steven Phillips who led form the front and played an outstanding game. And well done to our award winners Hayden Sym who also played a great game and Nikita Kemenyvary who attacked every contest and worked hard to keep the ball in the forward line.

Thank you to all of our match day helpers. Jodie and Callum who ran water, Chris Kemenyvary who handled the goal umpiring and to Chris Elves who helped with the running.

Match Report Under 10’s Round 15

V’s Wynnum 18-8-07
Our last game of the season and despite missing six of our regular players the boys continued to play a great style of team football. It was pleasing to see every player step up to cover for the players who were unavailable. Every player in the team has improved in all areas of the games and they all should be proud of their efforts throughout the season. For the second time this season we had co-captains in James Elves and Bailey Nichols, who both played fantastic games. James has developed into a very good player in his first season of AFL and Bailey has proven to be a valuable member of the team, who regularly takes on bigger opponents but is rarely beaten. Special thanks to under 8’s Jordan Miller and Nathan Bennett who played for us on Saturday and a big thanks to Glen Miller who handled the goal umpiring and all of the parents who made the effort to get the boys to the game on Saturday.

Match Report Under 10’s Round 14

V’s Redlands Grey 11-8-07
Our last home game of the year and once again the boys competed hard all day against a well balanced Redlands side. After a patchy first three quarters the boys really turned it on in the last quarter to produce our best period of football for the season. The boys in the centre continually won the ball and pumped it in to the forward line, where the forwards shared the ball unselfishly which led to easy goals for the team. On the few occasions the ball went into the Redlands forward line, our backline held firm and cleared the ball out quickly. Well done boys, lets finish the season on a positive note and keep up the good work this week against Wynnum. Congratulations to our captain Steven Phillips who played a superb game and he has taken his game to another level this season. Thank you to Wade Thomas, who handled the time keeping, Cathy Cameron, who looked after the first aid and Nathan Bennett who did an excellent job of the goal umpiring.

Match report under 10’s Round 13

V Redlands White 28-7-07 The boys bounced back from a disappointing game last week to display probably our best team performance of the season. Every player in the team got involved and attacked the football, so we were first to the ball and able to use our hand balling and kicking to pass to a team mate in a better position. There was also a marked improvement in our defensive skills which meant we tackled, chased and picked up an opposition player when we did not have the ball. Well done boys and keep up the good work over the final two games of the season. Congratulations to our Captain Jesse Longden who has really improved his skills over the season and he is becoming a valuable member of the team, well done Jesse and keep working hard at training. Thank you to Tania Bennett who had a busy day doing First Aid and Todd Bone who looked after the goal umpiring.

Match Report Round 12 under 10’s

Another trip to Redlands produced our slowest start to a game all season. For the first three quarters we did not play as a team and many times we had one or two players who had to compete against four Redlands players because their team mates would not help them out. However after three quarter time we switched on and played the type of football we are capable of, with every player contributing to a great last quarter of football. If we are to compete against good sides we need to work as a team which means EVERY player needs to contribute to the team. Well done to our captain Jayden Balm who went in hard for the ball and competed well all day and many thanks to Kim Nicholls who handled the goal umpiring.

Match Report under 10’s round 11

The team traveled to Redlands to play against one of the best sides we have played against and once again we showed what a great team we have become during the season. The boys were first to the ball and showed good team work and plenty of encouragement throughout the game. Every player should be proud of the way they played in their first game for three weeks. Congratulations to our Captain Jayden Bombardier who once again attacked every contest hard and he continued to show tremendous improvement in his first season of AFL football. Thank you to all of the parents for their support during the game and to Darren Bombardier, Nathan Bennett and Jordan Miller who shared the goal umpiring duties.

Match Report under 10’s round 10

For the first time this season we played against a side we had previously played and it showed how much we have improved over the course of the season. All day we were first to the ball and the boys used the ball well which contributed too many goal scoring opportunities. Once again the team chased and tackled hard and applied plenty of pressure to the opposition. Keep up the good work boys. Well done to our captain Travis Miller who has become more involved this season and he played a fine game. Thank you to Glen Miller for doing the first aid, Jayne Miller for time keeping and Nathan Bennett who handled the goal umpiring.

Match Report under 10’s round 9

The boys again put together a fine display of team football against a very evenly matched Alexandra Hills team. It is pleasing to see how much all of our first year players are improving each week and they are stepping up and helping out all of the experienced players so we are becoming a very strong side in all positions on the field. For the first time this season we had Co-Captains in Mitchell and Daniel Cameron who were celebrating their fiftieth games at the Cobras. Both boys have become very good players during the season and on Saturday they produced fine Captains games. Congratulations boys and keep working on your skills. Thank you to Tania Bennett for doing the time keeping, Our team of goal umpire’s Rhys, Kim and Todd and to Cathy Cameron who had a very busy day with the first aid duties this week.
